mummy had went malaysia, probably for one week? not sure too. so we have t wash our clothes ourself. how sad. if didn wash, i have no uniform to wear t school le. or i can wear dirty uniform t school. hah! of cos not! iam just joking ;D so i have search for some... to learn how t wash clothes!

How to Wash Your Clothes
Learning how to wash clothes is a very important skill. Failure to acquire this skill is not only unhealthy, but also expensive especially when the washing goes wrong. Fortunately, it is not a very difficult skill to master

STEPS.
step 1: Collect all your dirty clothes from the rooms, or wherever you keep them. Keep in mind to look under your bed. Make sure you find everything.

step 2: Sort the clothes into piles. There are two important considerations here: what kind of fabric is it (as in sheets, towels, bathrobes, napkins and rags) and what color.

step 3: Remember, towels and sheets should not be washed together. The top load washing machines should be used for towels, and sheets should be washed in front load machines (They are less harsh on sheets so they come out with fewer wrinkles).

step 4: Sort the remaining clothes (generally materials such as cotton, linen, synthetic fibers) according to color. All whites should go with only whites (or very light colors if the item has been washed many times). Then put all the reds, pinks, and oranges in a separate pile (never keep this close to the white pile as you will be wearing pink shirts for a long time). Then, depending on how much more you have left, put the other colors together, possibly into a lighter (e.g. grays, yellows, light blues) and a darker pile (blacks, dark blues, browns, greens, purples).

step 5: Know that each pile is its own load. It is recommended to start with the highest priority pile, usually the one with towels; you need to get them done since they take more time to dry.

step 6: Top load machines --First turn on and let the water run into the machine, then add 1/2 cup or one of the small plastic cups full of laundry detergent. Put the first pile into the washer. Do not overload the machines!

step 7: Understand all the knobs on the machines to make sure you are washing the clothes the way you are planning to. *White or light colored clothing usually goes on hot temperatures.
Colored clothes and sheets usually go on warm or cold temperatures.

step 8: Close the door and push the on button.

step 9: Come back when the washer is done and take the clothes out. Shake them gently, and put into a dryer to dry or you can hang them on a clothes rack

TIPS.
If you're sharing an apartment or living with people you know, it sometimes helps to join in the washing. This is especially the case with reds, as many people don't have a full load of red clothes in their wardrobe. Doing laundry together saves money and time, and lowers your impact on the environment.

Fold as little as possible. Just stack your undies and washcloths like pancakes.

Over drying wears fabric out faster; try to leave a little moisture in (not too much though), it will dry before you get to using it anyway.

Take the sheets off the bed, wash them and put them right back on. Less time will be spent folding/storing.

Guys- when you are low on dress socks, give what remains to Goodwill and buy like 30 pairs all same style of black. No more sorting or orphans. Go one step further and divide your dress sock drawer in two. Put clean socks in one side and draw from the other. When they are gone, reverse. This way you wear your socks evenly and can throw them all out at the same time and start over, hence less waste. Also- no folding, just throw them together like worms.

The recommended detergent amounts are about twice what you need. Use half of what they recommend & your clothes will be just as clean and your detergent will last twice as long.

Don't leave your clothes in your washer for more than 24 hours, they will get musty and moldy.

If your dryer is near the shower, pull towels/clothes directly from the dryer if they are in there, hence less folding.

Have hooks in your closet for your favorite pants and shirts that you wear constantly, don't fold and store them, just hang them up.

A laundry ball does not contain any harmful chemicals, such as phosphor, boron, etc. It's very useful when washing and drying clothes.

WARNING!
Always check the labels of your clothes.

If you are ever unsure, wash on the lower temperature, or by hand, and don't spin the clothes.

New clothes with bright colors may have to be washed by themselves for the first few times unless you have something in a very similar color.

Blue Jeans should be inside out to retain their dark color.

If you wash your tennis shoes, don't put them in the dryer, they will never be the same. Let them dry in the sun.

Don't leave your clothes unattended at the laundromat. They may get stolen!

Never wash and dry dark and light colored shirts together.

Never put bleach on shirts that are not white.

How To Wash Clothes By Hands
STEPS
1.Change into clothing you don't mind getting soapy water on. If detergent is left on clothing for a long time (until your next washing for instance) it can discolor the clothing.

2.Do this in a place with running water ie a river, shower head, bathtub faucet...a sink faucet will be too small.

3.Find a bucket/basin/bathtub/stoppable sink that is big enough to hold your clothes. Remember that clothing is smaller, heavier and harder to manage when wet

4.Add clothes.

5.Fill with water. Cold water works, and conserves energy, but if you have heavily soiled clothes, hot water provides deeper cleaning potential.

6.Add detergent. If you are using liquid, pour it right on. If you are using powder, it might work better to to dissolve it with a smaller amount of water in a separate container first.

7.How dirty is your clothing? If it's just worn, i.e a little sweaty and smelly, all you need it do is slosh it around in the water a few times. If it's stained, you'll need to go at it hard for a good five minutes at least. Take a bumpy surface (not scratchy, bumpy) and rub it up against the clothes. If you are at the river you can swing each piece of clothing and slam it on a rock to beat the dirt out. Watch for snakes.

8.Let the clothes soak for about 20-30 minutes. 20 if you don't have many clothes, 25 if you have a medium amount, and 30 if you have a big bundle of clothing.

9.Put your hands in the water and moosh the clothing around.

10.Once you're done mooshing, drain out the water.

11.Take each piece of clothing and rinse it under the running water till all the soap is out. This will take time and hard labor.

12.Hang everything up to dry.

13.Enjoy your clean, sweet-smelling clothes!

TIPS
Sheets and especially towels, are much harder to handwash, due to the difficulties of hand rinsing. Do so at your own risk.

Perspiration/sweat is oily/waxy. Be sure to use some soap rather than just rinsing.

WARNINGS!
DO NOT USE TOO MUCH DETERGENT! You are not a washing machine. You are a human being and getting out all that soap will be hard.

Don't wring your clothing. This will stretch it out, if it's the stretchy type, like t-shirts. Blouses will wrinkle. Skirts and pants made out of fine fabrics will also get damaged. Jeans, sweats, towels, sheets and other durable clothing will be fine. Wring away! Give it a few shakes, to get rid of wrinkles.
